The Pinnacle Court today reserved its judgement in a batch of pleas questioning and appealing against the Karnataka HC judgement denying to lift the ban on hijab in educational institutions of Karnataka.
15th March, the high court had striked down the petitions filed by a section of Muslim girls from the State Government Intermediate girls college un Udupi requesting permission to keep up hijab inside the classroom, noting it’s not a part of the necessary religious practice in faith of Islam.
The Karnataka government had, by its order of 5th February 2022, banned wearing materials that disturb equality, integrity, and public order in education institutions.
So many petitions have been filed in the top court challenging the Karnataka HC verdict.
Two judge bench composed of justices Hemant Gupta and Sudhanshu Dhulia reserved its verdict in the matter.
