Delhi Jahangirpuri: As Senior Lawyer Dushyant Dave noted that the demolition drive in riot-hit Jahangirpuri is fully illegal and no notice was delivered to anyone, the Chief Justice of India ordered status quo.
The matter is gonna be taken up tomorrow.
The Tip court today ordered status quo, preventing the demolition drive by the NDMC in Northwest Delhi's Jahangirpuri which was flooded by violence on the festival of Hanuman Jayanti.
Senior lawyers Dushyant Dave, Kapil Sibal, PV Surendranath and Prashant Bhushan informed the matter before CJI NV Ramana.
As Senior advocates mentioned, the demolition drive in riot-hit Jahangirpuri is completely not in a legal way and no notice was delivered to anyone, the CJI ordered status quo.
“Let the matter be taken up tomorrow along with the other matter,” the CJI said.
The issue of Jahangirpuri's demolition drive was mentioned in front of the ToP Court as a plea, filed by Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, against the bringing of bulldozers to demolish down the properties of riots-accused in state of Madhya Pradesh Khargone was dated to be mentioned for necessary listing before the CJI.
Senior advocates also mentioned that the Jahangirpuri raze down was supposed to start at 2pm but since the matter was dated to be mentioned before the apex court, the demolition started at 9am.
The NDMC, ruled by the BJP, conducted a demotion drive in the area of Jahangirpuri today and tomorrow. The civic body sought 400 cops from the Poliof Delhi for the drive.
