Today, the Supreme Court bench consisting of Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Dipankar Datta rejected a petition seeking the removal of Arvind Kejriwal, Aam Aadmi Party Chief, from the post of Chief Minister of Delhi following his arrest in the alleged liquor policy scam case. The SC bench said that it found no reason to interfere with the Delhi High Court’s decision that dismissed the plea seeking Kejriwal’s removal as the CM of Delhi. It said, “What is the legal right? Why should we go into all this? On propriety you may certainly have something to say but no legal right. Let the LG (Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena) take action if he wants to....we are not inclined.” Therefore, the bench dismissed the plea stating “We are not inclined to interfere with the impugned judgment. The Special Leave Petition is dismissed.”
