Today (October 21, 2024, Monday), the Supreme Court (SC) bench of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justice Manoj Misra, and Justice JB Pardiwala dismissed a petition seeking to replace the term ‘Hindutva’ with ‘Bharatiya Samvidhanatva’ or India Constitutionalism. Dr. SN Kundra filed the petition. During the proceedings, the bench refused to entertain the petition, stating, “No sir, we will not entertain this.” While the petitioner-in-person attempted to present further submissions, the CJI told him, “This is a complete abuse of the process.” This decision was made while hearing ongoing debates on the influence of religious nationalism in the country.
