In a recent order, the Supreme Court (SC) of India dismissed a batch of petitions seeking review of its December 2023 judgment upholding the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution of India that granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir. The five-judge bench of the SC constituting Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justice Sanjiv Khanna, Justice AS Bopanna, Justice BR Gavai, and Justice Surya Kant dismissed the review petitions after observing that there was no apparent error on the face of the record. The order of the SC passed on May 01, 2024, stated “Having perused the review petitions, there is no error apparent on the face of the record. No case for review under Order XLVII Rule 1 of the Supreme Court Rules 2013. The review petitions are, therefore, dismissed.”
