Today, the Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud declined to entertain the request seeking early listing of the hijab case by the lawyer appearing for the Shariat committee. CJI ordered to list of the Karnataka Hijab case after the Holi vacations starting today March 3, 2023, and the Supreme Court will reopen on March 13, 2023.

During the hearing, the lawyer submitted that there is a need for an urgent listing of the case before March 9 (starting date of exams) as the Hijab wearing students will not be allowed to attend the exams. In this context, CJI Chandrachud said, “I will list it immediately after the Holi vacations.” He further added to the lawyer’s point of exams happening from March 9 “What can I do if you come on the last day?”

The lawyer further urged the Supreme Court bench “They’ve missed one year. They’ll miss another. This matter was mentioned in January, in February.” CJI assured them to form a bench for the same and list the matter as soon as possible after the Holi vacations.
