Fresh Guidelines issued by the Supreme Court for the designation of Senior Advocates

In association with the latest judgment in the Indira Jaising vs Supreme Court case, the top Court issued fresh guidelines for the designation of senior advocates. The Supreme Court directed Advocates/ Advocates-on-Record to update their previous applications by furnishing information/data in the newly prescribed format. It also directed the Advocates to substitute their applications with fresh applications in a prescribed format. Moreover, the Supreme Court also directed the Advocates-on-record/ Advocates to withdraw applications by August 7, 2023, without affecting their entitlement to apply for designation to any of the Supreme Court or High Court. Apart from this, fresh applications were also invited by the top Court from Chief Justices as well as judges of High Courts who are interested in being addressed as Senior Advocates.
