Justice N. Kotiswar Singh and Justice R. Mahadevan take oath as Supreme Court Judges

Today (July 18, 2024) at 10:30 AM, the oath-taking ceremony of the two newly elevated judges, Justice N. Kotiswar Singh and Justice R. Mahadevan, occurred in the Supreme Court (SC). With the appointment of these two judges, the Supreme Court of India will function with its full strength of 34 judges. On July 11, 2024, the Supreme Court Collegium passed a resolution recommending Justice N. Kotiswar Singh and Justice R. Mahadevan to be appointed as top court judges. On July 16, the Centre notified their appointment as Supreme Court judges. While recommending their names, the SC Collegium said their appointment would bring diversity to the bench. Justice N. Kotiswar Singh made history as the first judge from Manipur to be appointed as the SC judge.
