SC calls upon BCI, Bar Councils of all states, Bar Associations of all High Courts, and SCAORA to provide suggestions to enhance and strengthen institutions of Bar Associations

Yesterday (July 16, 2024), the Supreme Court (SC) while considering the laying down of guidelines for enhancing and strengthening the institutions of Bar Associations all over the country, called upon the Bar Council of India (BCI), Bar Councils of all states, Bar Associations of all High Courts, and the Supreme Court Advocates-on-Record Association (SCAORA) to provide suggestions for the same. The SC bench constituting Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice Surya Kant addressed the matter. Following the proceedings, the bench highlighted various issues regarding low AIBE standards, the politicization of the Bar, and fresh law graduates joining the judiciary. Moreover, the bench requested the senior advocates, to provide suggestions to overcome the issues and enhance the institution of Bar Associations, who have already appeared in the matter.
