On December 04, 2023, the Supreme Court (SC) of India passed an order stating that it would hear the plea by Telangana Congress President Revanth Reddy on January 05, 2024. The plea sought closure of the 2015 cash-for-votes case in which he is an accused. Reddy is accused of paying Rupees 50 lakh cash to an independent MLC (Member of Legislative Council) to vote in favor of a Telugu Desam Party nominee in the 2015 elections in the state. He also promised the concerned MLC another Rupees 5 crore after voting. The matter was heard yesterday (December 04) by a two-judge bench comprising Justice SVN Bhatti, and Justice Sanjiv Khanna. Earlier in August 2021, the SC stayed the trial against Reddy and sought a response from the Telangana government.
