Supreme Court Designates 8 former High Court Judges as Senior Advocates

On August 14, 2024, the Supreme Court (SC) of India designated 8 former High Court judges including a former Acting Chief Justice as Senior Advocates. The SC issued a notification stating, “In a Full Court Meeting held on Wednesday, 14 August 2024, the Chief Justice of India and the Judges of the Supreme Court of India have designated…former Acting Chief Justice/Judges of the High Courts as Senior Advocates with effect from 14 August 2024.” The names of the former Acting Chief Justice/Judges of the High Courts include:

  • “Mr. Babu A.M., Former Judge, High Court of Kerala
  • Mr. Gudiseva Shyam Prasad, Former Judge, High Court for the States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh
  • Mr. M. Venugopal, Former Judge, Madras High Court
  • Mr. Mungeshwar Sahoo, Former Judge, High Court of Judicature at Patna
  • Mr. Prakash Naik, Former Judge, High Court of Bombay
  • Mr. Shashi Kant Gupta, Former Judge, High Court of Judicature at Allahabad
  • Mr. T. Raja, Former Acting Chief Justice, Madras High Court
  • Mr. Vivek Puri, Former Judge, High Court of Punjab and Haryana”
