On August 14, 2024 (Today), the Supreme Court (SC) bench constituting Justice Surya Kant and Justice Ujjal Bhuyan refused to grant interim bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The bench was hearing a petition filed by the Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal seeking bail in the case registered by the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) relating to the Delhi Liquor Policy Scam Case. The top court declined to grant interim bail but issued notice and listed the matter for hearing on August 23, 2024 (Friday). The Court said, “We are not granting any interim bail. We issue notice.”

Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi who appeared for Kejriwal requested the bench to keep the matter for hearing for next week. Considering this, the top court listed the matter on August 23. Earlier on August 05, 2024, the Delhi Court refused the Delhi CM’s plea regarding bail and asked him to approach the Trial court. In context with this, Arvind Kejriwal approached the Supreme Court for bail. The matter was heard today by a two-judge bench that refused to grant him interim bail.
