Central Government Notifies The Appointment Of Justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari As Acting Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court

Today (October 09, 2024), the Central Government notified the appointment of Justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari as the acting Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court (HC). He will take over as the HC’s acting Chief Justice after the retirement of current Chief Justice of Uttarakhand HC Justice Ritu Bahri on October 10, 2024. The notification reads, “In exercise of the power conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari, Judge of the Uttarakhand High Court, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from 11.10.2024 consequent upon the retirement of Ms. Justice Ritu Bahri, Chief Justice, Uttarakhand High Court on 10.10.2024.” The appointment of Justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari as the acting Chief Justice of Uttarakhand HC was officially communicated via a notification posted today on the Ministry of Law and Justice’s website. Earlier on September 24, the Supreme Court Collegium recommended Justice Narendar G, currently serving as the Andhra Pradesh HC, to be appointed as the Chief Justice of Uttarakhand HC, which is still pending to be cleared by the Central Government.
