Collegium recommends appointment of 19 additional judges of Madras, Bombay, and Allahabad High Court as permanent judges.

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court bench comprising Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, and Justice K.M. Joseph recommended the appointment of 19 additional judges of three High Courts as Permanent judges against their existing vacancies. The Three High Courts addressed here are Madras, Bombay, and Allahabad High Court.

Madras High Court

The recommended judges for appointment as permanent judges by the Collegium in the Madras High Court are listed as follows:

1.  Justice Sundaram Srimathy

2.  Justice D Bharatha Chakravarthy

3.  Justice R Vijaykumar

4.  Justice Mohammed Shaffiq

5.  Justice J Sathya Narayana Prasad

On November 22, 2022, the Madras High Court Collegium gave these names for appointment as permanent judges, and the Governor and the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister concurred with the recommendation.

Bombay High Court

Four additional judges of the Bombay High Court recommended being appointed as permanent judges are listed below:

1.  Justice Rajesh Narayandas Laddha

2.  Justice Govinda Ananda Sanap

3.  Justice Sanjay Ganpatrao Mehare

4.  Justice Shivkumar Ganpatrao Dige

These names were suggested by the Bombay HC Collegium on December 15, 2022, and were concurred by the Governor and Chief Ministers of Goa and Maharashtra.

Allahabad High Court

On November 23, 2022, the Allahabad HC Collegium recommended the name of 10 additional judges to be appointed as permanent judges of the HC. The recommendation was concurred by the Governor and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.
