The Supreme Court of India, for the first time, will use Artificial Intelligence and NLP (Natural language Processing) driven technology for live transcriptions of hearing on an experimental basis. A display screen in Court Room 1, where Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud is hearing the matter related to the Maharashtra Political crisis, has been placed. TERES company is providing this facility to practitioners for a better understanding.

In this concern, the CJI said “Do you see the screen? We’re just trying to explore the possibilities of live transcript. It is an experiment. Then we will have a permanent record of arguments. Of course, it will help the judges and the lawyers, but law college can also analyze how arguments are made”. The links to the transcripts will be sent to the lawyer to check and will be further uploaded to the official site of the Supreme Court. CJI solicitude “Now the only issue is that if two or more people talk over, it can be an issue. But there are persons overseeing it. They will hear and clear it up.”

Earlier, in a petition filed by Senior Advocate Indira Jaising, a suggestion was given for providing transcripts of proceeding in the Supreme Court. CJI then assured the Senior Advocate that the Top Court will consider to live stream matters of national importance, providing links to live streaming on the cause list and allowing audio scripts to access court proceedings.
