The Pinnacle Court asks the replies of Union and states on Public interest litigation for free sanitary pads for girls studying in public educational institutions

The  top court today asked the replies  from the union, states and Union territories (UTs) on a Public interest litigation.

It is asking the court to allow the free sanitary pads to women who are in the class of sixth to twelfth in the public schools across the nation.

Two judge bench composed of CJ D Y Chandrachud and Justice P S Narasimha noted the plea today regarding this matter

The plea was filed by the social activist Jaya Thakur, Medical practitioner in the state of Madhya Pradesh, and sent orders to the union government and all states governments and UT administrations in our country.

The apex court today ordered the assistance of Solicitor General Tushar Mehta in this case, noting the petitioner has questioned the crucial issue of sanitation and hygiene of girl students from class 6th to 12th in public and public-aided educational institutions.
