2018 Bhima Koregaon Violence Case: Supreme Court extends stay on Mahesh Raut’s bail till October 5

Today, the Supreme Court of India extended the stay imposed by the Bombay High Court till October 5 on its order granting bail to one of the accused in the 2018 Bhima Koregaon violence case, Mahesh Raut. The bench passed this order while hearing an appeal filed by the NIA (National Investigation Agency) before it against the bail order of the HC. Justice Aniruddha Bose and Justice Bela M. Trivedi passed the order today (September 27) stating, “Leave granted. List on October 5. The stay already granted by Bombay High Court on the operation of judgment and order shall continue until the next date of hearing.” During the court proceedings, Additional Solicitor General SV Raju appeared for the NIA and Senior Advocate Mihir Desai appeared for Mahesh Raut.
