The Supreme Court on Wednesday stayed a Tripura state supreme court order that had sought a sealed cover report on the “Z plus” security provided to industrialist Mukesh Ambani and other VIP security provided to his wife and relations.

A bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice J.B. Pardiwala granted the interim relief after the Union government rushed to the highest court challenging the summer solstice impugned order lapsed the state judicature on a PIL filed by a “social activist” Bikash Saha, who had questioned the protection cover provided to the industrialist and his family.

“Issue notice, returnable on 22.07.2022. Meanwhile implementation of the orders dated 31.05.2022 and 21.06.2022 lapsed the supreme court of Tripura shall remain stayed,” the bench said in a very terse order while seeking the response of the PIL petitioner before the state supreme court.

The tribunal had earlier asked the Union government to put before it details and reasons for the “Z plus” security cover provided to Mukesh Ambani and “Y plus” security provided to his wife Neeta Ambani and their children.

It had also asked the ministry of home affairs (MHA) to depute a senior officer to be personally present before it when the matter is haunted again.
