SC Collegium Recommends Appointment of Seven Additional Judges of Delhi, Karnataka, and Punjab and Haryana HCs As Permanent Judges Of Their Respective HCs

On December 12, 2024 (Thursday), the Supreme Court (SC) Collegium recommended the appointment of seven Additional Judges, 2 from the Delhi High Court, 1 from the Punjab and Haryana High Court, and 4 from the Karnataka High Court (HC) as permanent judges of their respective High Courts. 

Judges Recommended for Permanent Appointment: Delhi HC

  • Justice Shalinder Kaur
  • Justice Ravinder Dudeja

The Collegium said, “The Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on 12th December 2024 has approved the proposal for appointment of the following Additional Judges as Permanent Judges in the High Court of Delhi: 1. Ms. Justice Shalinder Kaur, and 2. Mr. Justice Ravinder Dudeja.”

Judges Recommended for Permanent Appointment: Punjab and Haryana HC

  • Justice Harpreet Singh Brar

The SC Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna said, “The Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on 12th December 2024 has approved the proposal for appointment of Shri Justice Harpreet Singh Brar, Additional Judge as Permanent Judge in the High Court of Punjab and Haryana.”

Judges Recommended for Permanent Appointment: Karnataka HC

  • Justice Ramachandra Dattatray Huddar
  • Justice Venkatesh Naik Thavaryanaik
  • Justice Vijaykumar Adagouda Patil
  • Justice Rajesh Rai Kallangala (from February 01, 2025, on the occurrence of vacancy)

The Collegium Statement reads, “The Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on 12th December 2024 has approved the proposal for appointment of (i) Shri Justice Ramachandra Dattatray Huddar, (ii) Shri Justice Venkatesh Naik Thavaryanaik, and (iii) Shri Justice Vijaykumar Adagouda Patil, Additional Judges, as Permanent Judges in the High Court of Karnataka. 

The Supreme Court Collegium has further approved that Shri Justice Rajesh Rai Kallangala, Additional Judge, be appointed as Permanent Judge of the High Court of Karnataka on occurrence of vacancy on 1st February 2025.”
