SC directs AAP to vacate land allotted for Delhi judiciary by June 15 and directs to approach L&DO to get the allotment of new land

Today (March 04, 2024), a three-judge bench of the Supreme Court (SC) directed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to vacate its premises in New Delhi as the land was allotted for the expansion of infrastructure of the Delhi High Court. The bench ordered to vacate the property till June 15. The SC order illustrates, “In view of the impending elections, we grant time till 15 June 2024 to vacate the premises so that the land which has been allotted for the purpose of expanding the footprint of the district judiciary can be duly utilized on an expeditious basis.” Also, the SC bench comprising Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala, and Justice Manoj Misra asked AAP to approach the Land and Development Office to get the allotment of new land for its offices. It said, “We would request the L&DO to process the application and communicate its decision within four weeks.”  Today, Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Solicitor General of India Tushar Mehta argued before the bench.
