SC grants interim protection to fact-findings members of the EGI from arrest over report on Manipur violence

Today, Interim protection was granted by the Supreme Court (SC) to the fact-findings members of the Editors Guild of India (EGI) from arrest over their report on the ethnic violence in Manipur The decision was passed by the bench including Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala, and Justice Manoj Misra while issuing notice to the Manipur state on the writ petition filed by the EGI members. It further listed the matter for hearing on Monday (September 11). Earlier this morning, Senior Advocate Shyam Divan mentioned the case for urgent listing before the SC bench. The bench then ordered “Please keep the papers ready, we will take up after the admissions matters are over (today).”
