The Top court today showed anger over the procedure late by the union in clearing the list made by the Collegium for the judicial appointment in the higher judiciary, noting that it "effectively frustrates" the method of appointment.

The three-judge bench of the apex court composed of justices S K Kaul and A S Oka noted the duration for the appointment method already finished.

Justice Kaul today strongly said that "It appears to me, I would say, the unhappiness of the Government of the fact that NJAC does not pass muster".

Those deadlines have to be already got over, it said.

Justice Kaul noted that “it appears the government is unhappy with the fact that the National Judicial Appointments Commission (NJAC) Act did not pass the muster, but that cannot be a reason to not to comply with the law of the land”.

In 2015 The supreme court in its verdict rejected the National judicial appointments committee Act and the Constitution (99th Amendment) Act, 2014, directing to the rejection of the Collegium system of existing judges appointing justices to higher judiciary.

The bench further said "How does the system work?", adding, "Our anguish we have already expressed."
